Hi all! I’m Sarah, a self-taught silversmith who calls the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York my home. Growing up in such a fiercely wild place fostered in me a deep fondness for this land. In 2020 I found my way to silversmithing and I now hope to build a community based on a shared love of wilderness inspired jewelry and environmental awareness. I cherish the opportunity to instill adoration for the outdoors in others, as my work slowly fills the hearts of those that admire it.

Inspiration

Scattered amongst the High Peaks in the northeast, all the way to to the rolling hills and valleys of the southern and western Adirondacks, are old growth forests, wetlands and rivers.  These wild lands are home to many remarkable plants and animals. This enchanting wilderness is were I draw my inspiration.

Sourcing

Materials and packaging for all Northern Forest Silver pieces are sourced with a focus on ethics and sustainability. The stones used in designs are carefully selected from reputable lapidary artists, and are always hand cut. Each artist shares a passion for maintaining relationships with the mines they collaborate with, and many seek to foster a sense of stewardship for the areas where materials are sourced.

 FAQs

  • To prevent tarnish:

Wear your silver jewelry often! The natural oils in our skin help to prevent silver from becoming dull or tarnished. If you plan on going an extended amount of time without wearing your jewelry, store it in a small bag. Be sure to clean it before storing.

    To clean:

If you notice that your jewelry is beginning to tarnish, I recommend cleaning it with water and a small amount of mild soap (like Dawn dish soap). This method is effective and gentile on both the metal and stones. If soap is not quite doing the trick, substitute it with a small amount of baking soda or vinegar.

    To polish:

Included with your purchase is a small polishing cloth, this can be used to restore luster and shine after you have cleaned your jewelry

  • While most gemstones and sterling silver are okay to be submerged in water briefly, I would advise against any situation where they are wet for prolonged periods of time. Additionally your jewelry should be removed prior to any situation where there may be chemicals present (ie. chlorine pools, hot tubs, cleaning, showering, or washing the dishes).

My pieces are designed with the intention to last a lifetime, yet jewelry is innately fragile. I recommend removing your pieces before taking part in any activity where damages may logically occur. I will not provide returns in event of damages due to lack of care.

  • There are lots of resources online for sizing and a simple google search will give you a fair amount of options. Some sites even have adjustable ring-sizers available for purchase. I recommend doing a little research before purchasing, as body type and style of an item can also play a part in if a piece will fit.

Common items to look into would be rings, necklaces and cuff/bangle bracelets.

  • While all of the stones that I use can be found in the Adirondacks, I do not currently have access to stones sourced from here. I am continuously looking for connections to offer exclusively Adirondack stones in the future!
